An Update About Face Masks

Hello again everyone. It's been a long while since we posted an update here, but we feel this one warrants an official posting.

As COVID numbers are the best they have been since March 2020, and we are entering the typically less contagious summer months, we are relaxing our masking policy. At this time, the official policy is as follows:

Face masks are encouraged but optional for all guests during their visit to Boxaroo. However, if any guest is exhibiting symptoms of illness, such as (but not limited to) coughing or sneezing, we reserve the right to require said guest to wear a face mask for the remainder of their visit. Any guests unwilling to comply will be asked to leave with no refund or reschedule.

We hope that this change in policy balances our continued commitment to customer and staff safety, with our current understanding of the prevelance of COVID. We do reserve the right to change this policy at anytime in the future, should the circumstances change. And we sincerely thank everyone who has helped us recover from the pandemic to reach this point.

In the meantime, we hope everyone has a happy, safe, and healthy Pride Month!

See you around,

Rob & the Boxaroo Team

Good news again, everyone!

We are excited to announce that Boxaroo will be reopening in a limited capacity, starting this week! Our Conundrum Museum and The Mystery of the Magician’s Study rooms will be available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, starting this Friday, March 19.

As before, please keep these rules in mind:

  1. Masks are required to be worn at all times by staff and guests. We will have additional disposable masks and gloves onsite, and have Boxaroo masks for sale.

  2. All of our bookings will continue to be private and limited to one household or social bubble. If you had a previously issued voucher for a public game, it may be redeemed for a private game.

  3. Staff and guests should maintain 6 feet of social distance wherever possible, and we have reconfigured our customer flow to ensure this is possible.

  4. Guests are required to wash hands and answer a COVID questionnaire when they arrive onsite. If you are not feeling well for any reason, please reach out and our staff would be happy to help reschedule or issue a voucher for your booking.

  5. Our rooms and reception will be sanitized between each group, using EPA-approved sanitizers and with special attention paid to high contact touch points.

  6. In order to keep groups separated, entry into the building is by permission only. When your group arrives for your booking, call using the designated call box and we will let you in when it is safe to do so.

  7. Looking to book on a weekday? Want to schedule a team building activity? Unsure about something? Email us or give us a call and we’ll be happy to make special arrangements with advanced notice.

We are excited to welcome people back through our doors, and will continue to provide the fun and safe environment that everyone enjoys. We will do our part to provide a fun and safe environment, and ask our excited fans to do the same. Book your visit today!

To our guests, fans and supporters,

In these ever changing times, we have always put the health and safety of our guests and staff first and foremost. When we reopened back in July, it was with the assumption that we would follow the protocols for indoor recreation, and other businesses similar to ours, which according to Massachusetts, would be allowed to reopen in Phase 3, Step 1. Since reopening our doors, we’ve put in place strict and comprehensive policies and protocols that have kept all who have visited Boxaroo safe during their stay.

Recently, however, the state of Massachusetts changed the industry specific guidelines, classifying escape rooms as being allowed to reopen in Phase 3, Step 2. Since the city of Boston has never entered Phase 3, Step 2, we must again close our doors for the time being. Needless to say, we are bummed about this new classification, and we are actively communicating with state and local authorities to try and find a safe, reasonable solution to allow us to continue operating in the near future.

Thank you for your continued support through these challenging times, it means so much to us. We will certainly provide updates as we have them. In the meantime, we do have gift cards available for purchase, and if you haven’t tried Colby’s Curious Cookoff, there’s no time like the present!

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at hello@boxaroo.me.

Stay safe out there, and best wishes for the holiday season!

Good news, everyone!

We are excited to share that state and local authorities have deemed it safe for escape rooms like us to reopen this week. Boxaroo is here, stronger than ever before; and yet, we must remain vigilant.

We will be reopening in a limited capacity starting on Friday, July 17. This will give our staff time to undergo training for our new operating procedures and safety standards. We do this so we can provide the highest level of service to our fans and to our community, while keeping everyone safe- our guests, our staff, and the greater Boston area.

To that end, we will be asking all of our guests to do their part, and in return we will do ours.

  1. As a part of state regulation, all guests and staff will be required to wear a mask at all times when visiting Boxaroo.

  2. All of our bookings will now be private. Any previously issued vouchers can be used for a private booking.

  3. Staff will remain 6 feet away from all customers, whenever possible.

  4. Only one group will be allowed in the lobby at a time. Please do not enter the building until we buzz you in. guests will be required to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer before entering the rooms.

  5. We encourage guests to wear gloves, and will have them available for anyone who would like to wear them in the room.

  6. Our rooms and lobby will be thoroughly disinfected in between each group. Special attention will be paid to high touch contact points, using EPA approved cleaners.

Note: Due to state regulations, the maximum capacity for Conundrum Museum and Mystery of the Magician’s Study has been temporarily reduced to 8 persons.

We are excited to have you back! Together, we can make this transition safely. To see our availability, please check our website: boxaroo.me

A Message to Boxaroo Customers, Fans, and Supporters,

In an effort to protect our staff and guests, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors through April 7th in accordance with Boston’s current school closure schedule. This is a choice we did not make lightly. At Boxaroo we love nothing more than to be an escape: a place you can go when you are afraid, confused, or desiring to be lost in a world unlike your own. In times like this, these types of journeys and escapes are invaluable. By closing our doors now, we hope to ensure that we will be there for you later. When all of this passes and you are ready to head out for your next big adventure, we hope to see you in one of our rooms.

To guests who have already booked with us, we will be contacting you within the next 24 hours regarding vouchers and refund options. We apologize for any celebrations, gatherings, or special moments that will be impacted by this decision. Please know that we would still love to celebrate your special day with you once we reopen.

If you would like to help support Boxaroo during this time, please feel free to book tickets for April and beyond through our website or pick up a gift certificate that can be used on a future adventure with us!

At the end of the day, Boxaroo exists because of the wonderful people who work with us and an audience that trusts us to treat them to a meaningful immersive experience. If you need to speak with us during this time away we can be reached by either phone (617-249-5280) or email (hello@boxaroo.me). We will also continue to stay active on our social media accounts so if you’re bored feel free to stop by and say hi.

Thank you again for your support, wash those hands, and take care of yourselves. We can’t wait to see you when this is all over!

Hello everyone. We know COVID-19 has been on everyone’s minds, including ours. Here is what we are doing to be prepared and to make sure Boxaroo remains a fun and safe experience for everyone:

  1. Health and safety are our primary concern, both for our guests and our staff. To that end, we have implemented an active disinfectant and cleanliness regime. We hope you understand if each game takes a little more time to reset as we put in the extra effort to clean and disinfect the rooms between every run.

  2. If you feel at all unwell, we encourage you to stay home. We have a generous rescheduling policy that allows you to reschedule your booking any time before the start of your reservation. If you or your guests feel sick or may have been exposed, we’re happy to move you to another time or give you a voucher code to rebook with at your convenience.

  3. As a trial, our Conundrum Museum and The Mystery of the Magician’s Study escape rooms will have the option to be made private when you book 6 or more tickets. Although we think those games play best with 6-8, we acknowledge that some customers will feel more comfortable playing with just their friends and family. Simply make your reservation, then call us at 617-616-8610 or email us at hello@boxaroo.me and we’ll make your booking private. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and will keep everyone updated if our policies change. Thank you for your patronage and understanding.
